| This is a fantastic short walk that starts from a lofty height on the Kirkstone Pass and involves a few short scrambles on an othersie easy to follow and well laid path. The Red Screes stand high above the Kirkstone Pass on the high road between Ullswater and Windermere. The walk involves following an obvious steep path gaining height quickly with a few on all fours moments with the odd tricky section. Once on top the views will equal most in the Lakes. There is an adjoining Wainwright to bag. This is most certainly one of those start high up to gain height and have less altitude to worry about kind of walks. The Kirkstone Inn creates an absolute walkers haven for the start and finish of the walk and provides a large free car park. |
